Anica Mrose Rissi grew up on an island off the coast of Maine, where she read a lot of books and loved a lot of pets. She now tells and collects stories, makes up songs on her violin, and eats lots of cheese with her friends in Princeton, New Jersey, where she lives with her dog, Arugula. Q. What were your previous occupations?

A. I've been a musician, waitress, cheese monger, weaver's apprentice, and editrix. All of these jobs were fun.

Q. Where did you go to high school and/or college?

A. I am a proud graduate of Deer Isle-Stonington High School in Deer Isle, Maine. For college, I went to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
