Q. Previous occupations

A. I was a children's yoga instructor in High School, which was a lot of fun, but hard work. I remember once trying to teach 13 three year olds how to do tree pose...not so easy. I worked at a clothing store in college, and was a fashion designer's assistant at one point, as well. And I was an editor before I was an author!

Q. Favorite job

A. I always say being a writer is the best gig around. I love it.

Q. High school and/or college

A. I went to Seabury Hall for High School in Maui, Hawaii and I went to college at The University of Southern California in Los Angeles. And I got my Masters here in New York at The New School.

Q. Name of your favorite composer or music artist?

A. The Counting Crows. It's on my bucket list to see them in concert. I never have! Also Van Morrison. I adore him.

Q. Favorite movie

A. I'm a total fangirl for Nancy Meyers. I love all her movies--- Something's Gotta Give, Father of the Bride, The Parent Trap, etc. I also love Woody Allen-- Annie Hall and Manhattan are my favorites. And Clueless! Of course.

Q. Favorite television show

A. Right now it's probably Gossip Girl and this show Made In Chelsea that is only on in the UK-- I'm obsessed with it! Please come to the states! Dawson's Creek and Party of Five are pretty close to my heart, as well. I grew up with those shows.

Revealing Questions

Q. How would you describe your life in only 8 words?

A. Creative, fun, friendship, laughter, work, lovely, crazy, exciting. Those are pretty good words, come to think of it-- I lucked out!

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. I think perfect happiness has a lot to do with peace. For me I get peace from writing, from the people in my life, and from yoga-- om! I'm also incredibly blessed to have a job that really, truly fullfills me. That brings me a lot of joy.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. Oh, man. Someone I love dying.

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. Paris! Always Paris, although New York isn't half bad, either.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. Probably Joan Didion. Her essay "Goodbye To All That" continues to change my life every time I read it. She's a true writer and someone who has stayed the course even through so much tragedy. I respect and admire her greatly.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. I say "the point is" all the time. It drives my friends crazy.

Q. What do you regret most?

A. I don't think too much about regrets. I think everything that happens in our lives brings us to where we are, and for that, I'm grateful. Sometimes I'll regret not having spoken up, though. I'll say "man, I really should have told so and so how I felt!" That would probably be it for me.

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. SINGING! Oh my god if I had a good voice, I would never stop. I have a secret ambition of being on Broadway (secret because I am basically tone deaf).

Q. What is your greatest achievement?

A. Publishing a novel is pretty high on the list.

Q. What’s your greatest flaw?

A. I have no patience. I'm working on it!

Q. What’s your best quality?

A. I think I'm kind, and a good friend.

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. Me. Life is pretty good.

Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?

A. I have really long hair, so maybe that?

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Harry Potter! Without a shadow of a doubt.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. He was so tortured by his love for Catherine!

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. Slow walkers. Although sometimes I am also a slow walker.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Reading, watching fun television, and pretending to cook.

Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. A broadway actress! I have absolutely no talent whatsoever, but a girl can dream.

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Generosity, Kindess and Respect.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Any version of cheese and tomatoes. Caprese salad, Greek salad, pizza....

A. Fly Me To the Moon by Frank Sinatra, Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles, Can't Help It by Yes Giantess, Love On Top by Beyonce, and anything by The Counting Crows

Q. Is there a book you love to reread?

A. There are so many! I'd say my top re-reads are The Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby, though.

A. Read as much as you possibly can, and then get Stephen King's On Writing.
