Reviewing this book was an absolute pleasure. Chuck Hillig's insight into human fears, love and spirituality is indeed very profound. Every page overflows with wisdom that will make you smile, stop you in your tracks and uplift you. This is the perfect book to keep by your bedside, and after you have read you can refer back to it for daily ponderings and inspiration. I highly recommend this book and end with a quote from the book. ‘Your happiness depends primarily on your capacity , and your willingness, to fully express the perfect love that you are’.

Chuck Hillig is one of the more innovative writers in the area of non-duality. His books have a playful quality. This doesn’t mean they should not be taken seriously. As author Jed McKenna put it, “Chuck Hillig’s books look friendly and harmless, but they are swords…and they are sharp!”

Chuck’s books have had a black dot in the middle, a hole in the middle, and he has even written a children’s book called The Magic King which I purchased for my kids a couple years ago.

As mentioned in other reviews, it is nice sometimes to have a book that you don’t necessarily have to read from cover to cover. You can keep it on a coffee table, next to your favorite reading chair, or even in the bathroom.

One thing I didn’t know about Chuck Hillig is that he has been a devotee of Ramana Maharshi since 1970. I could tell this from some of the passages he writes. But this isn’t just a regurgitation or a cut and paste of Ramana’s teachings. There is a clarity here that relates it well to the reader. As a matter of fact there are many pages that contain profound wisdom. From page 165: “To be truly free, you need to rid yourself of only three things: 1) the desire to have, 2) the fear to lose, and 3) the need to change.”

Many people are only familiar with Ramana Maharshi’s self inquiry “Who am I?’ This passage is a clear demonstration of Ramana’s lesser know teaching of surrender. When you surrender fully there is no desire to have, no fear of loss or a need for change.

The Enlightenment Dudes enjoyed the format and the wisdom imparted in Chuck Hillig’s Seeds for the Soul and recommend it with an 9 out of 10 on our infinity scale.
