Inaam Kachachi is one of Iraq’s leading female novelists. She is the author of The American Granddaughter, which was also shortlisted for the Arabic Booker Prize. She was born in Baghdad in 1952, and received a PhD from the Sorbonne. She is currently the Paris correspondent for the Arabic language newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.
