About The Book

Created by Henriquez Partners Architects as part of the European Cultural Center’s exhibition during the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, GHETTO is a theoretical project which proposes wealth transfer from American tourists to Iranian refugees seeking shelter and fundamental human needs, with the intention of creating inclusive cities where all feel welcome.

About The Author

Henriquez Partners Architects is a Canadian architectural practice, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a Toronto studio opening at Mirvish Village in 2023. Led by Gregory Henriquez, the studio seeks to re-examine the role of ethics, activism, and critical commentary in architectural practice, and to re-establish the leadership role of the architect in the creation of collective spaces that form the fabric of our daily lives and communities.

About The Illustrator

Wei Li is a Chinese-Canadian comic and storyboard artist based in Vancouver, B.C. whose animation and film career entails imagining and drawing fight choreographies, cartoons, and spy intrigue. Through his personal work, he explores the intersection between the human condition and sociopolitics. Wei has received a Daytime Emmy Award in 2020 for his storyboards on the Netflix TV series, Carmen Sandiego. He has produced Lotus Root Children (2010) and Tehura (2021), artistic works through which he aims to provoke thought and focused discussions around societies experiencing social perplexity, the search for self-understanding, and the perception of others in relation to oneself.
