About The Book

Greg and Tim Hildebrandt, known as the Brothers Hildebrandt, are American twin brothers who worked collaboratively as fantasy and science fiction artists for many years.

They produced illustrations for some of the most influential comic books, movie posters, children's books, posters, novels, calendars, advertisements, and trading cards of a generation.

Presented in this new 2023 calendar are 13 of those original Greg and Tim Hildebrandt masterpieces.

In 1975 Greg and Tim Hildebrandt answered the whispers of fate in the form of an open call from Ballantine Books to illustrate the 1976 Lord of the Rings calendar. The results were nothing short of astounding. Rich and lavish, the illustrated Tolkien art of the Brothers Hildebrandt raised the bar and set a new standard for fantasy art in the 1970’s. Their record setting calendars of 1976, ’77 and ’78 introduced a new generation to the words of JRR Tolkien and gave them their first visual of Hobbits, Orcs and Middle Earth. These genre defining works have become timeless with age and have adorned the walls of countless people for decades. Presented in this new 2023 calendar are 13 of those original Greg and Tim Hildebrandt masterpieces. Let the work of the Brothers sweep you away and take you on a journey with Gandalf, Bilbo and the rest of the fellowship of the ring as they make their way across the Misty Mountains to the heart of Mount Doom.
