About The Author

Len Curreri is a distinguished aviator and aviation safety advocate with over six decades of dedication to the skies and aeronautical knowledge. Born in Quincy, MA, Len's passion for flight began early, driving him to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War after finishing college. As a Naval Aviation Officer, Len played a pivotal role in military aviation operations aboard the USS Constellation during the Gulf of Tonkin incident, where his squadron was involved in notable missions.

After transitioning to civilian life, Len became a renowned private pilot, notably serving as the trusted pilot and flight instructor for entertainer and musician Jimmy Buffett. He also made significant contributions to the aviation safety community as Vice Chairman of the Flight Safety Foundation, promoting global standards and improvements.

An academic and author, Len has taught Aviation Law and Regulations, written influential white papers on aviation safety, and holds degrees from esteemed institutions, including Parks College of Aeronautics at St. Louis University and the College of Aeronautic Technology at Boston University. He also earned a graduate MBA from Iona College and maintains affiliations with prestigious aviation organizations. Len is an active member of the Quiet Birdmen and a former member of the Ohio State Association of Aviation Psychology, contributing to insight and awareness involving human factors in aviation.

A family man, Len is married to Elli, and they raised two children, Cristina and Marc, who is also a pilot, sharing his passion for aviation.
