Emmett Dedmon

About The Author

Emmett Dedmon (1914–1980) was a journalist, editor, and author who spent his career at the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Daily News, rising to vice president and editorial director. A University of Chicago graduate and World War II veteran, he served as literary and drama editor before moving into senior leadership. He was the author of several books, including the novel Duty to Live, and served on the Pulitzer Prize selection committee.
