Mabel R. Garis, author of Martha Root: Lioness at the Threshold, has spoken throughout the United States, the West Indies, central Canada, and Great Britain promoting world unity and human rights. She has served as the NGO representative to the United Nations on behalf of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the United States. She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts and has three children and five grandchildren.
