Robert Lindsey, who was born in 1935 in Glendale, California, was a reporter and correspondent for The New York Times for twenty years. His first book, The Falcon and the Snowman, won the Edgar Allan Poe award in 1980. His book A Gathering of Saints won the Gold Dagger Award of the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain in 1989. He is married and lives in Carmel, California.
