About The Book
The literati painting is an art form that best embodies the philosophical ideals of ancient intellectuals
The literati painting is an art form that best embodies the philosophical ideals of ancient intellectuals. Created by Huang Gongwang, Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains symbolises the pinnacle of literati painting and has long influenced and attracted later painters to imitate, including Huang Jin, Shen Zou, and Wang Hui. This book focuses on the masterpiece Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains and is divided into two volumes: research and appreciation. The first volume gives an overview of the literati painting history and analyses the typical works and their philosophical connotations, with rich and highresolution illustrations. The second reproduces “The Master Wuyong Scroll” and “The Remaining Mountain”, two sections of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains respectively housed in Taipei Palace Museum and Zhejiang Provincial Museum in Hangzhou.
